Support #GivingTuesday

November 27, 2018

Stewardship Matters of Virginia encourages you to dig deep on November 27, for #GivingTuesday, a nationwide invitation to practice generosity at the front of the Christmas season.

I know it is the Christmas season because the stores have had their displays up since Halloween!

By making a gift to your favorite charity, or an extra gift to your church, you can support a ministry, a cause, a person.  By doing it now, you can decrease anxiety for some ministries when it comes to end-of-the-year financial stability.

Don’t know where to give? Let me make three suggestions:

  • Society of Saint Andrew, www.endhungernow.org - has served over a million meals to the hungry.   Volunteers work in fields and orchards to reclaim vegetables / fruit that will otherwise go to waste. Farmers donate.  This ministry is now about 35 years old and in the last year has lost a major donor. You can help to make up the loss.
  • UMCOR – The United Methodist Committee on Relief, www.UMCOR.org - provides disaster relief around the world. With the numerous natural disasters we have witnessed, UMCOR gets to the scene as quickly as possible and stays as long as necessary. And 100% of your gift goes to perform this ministry. You may give through any UM Church, or send via the website.
  • Stewardship Matters of Virginia - David Rash, Stewardship Matters of Virginia LLC, 809 Fairway Drive, Waynesboro, Va. 22980 My ministry is to grow faithful and generous stewards, disciples of Jesus Christ, so that the Kingdom of God may be strengthened. However, this is not a 501c(3) non profit organization but any gifts will be appreciated. You may give through your church, if you wish, but make sure this ministry is approved by your church leadership.

However, wherever, whoever, make sure they are a worthy ministry!  Get ahead of Santa!  Just give!!
